Sharu Binnong Sikdar (b. 1994) is a Hong Kong-born Indian Filipino artist. Her artistic practice is distinguished by the repetition and labor-intensive processes, in which she collects, assembles, and reconstructs found objects. Sikdar mainly uses natural materials such as leaves, barks, branches, and even her own hair as her medium. Her work thoughtfully explores the relationships between human and nature, personal growth, and the ephemeral nature of beings.
Sikdar graduated with a B.F.A. in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Hong Kong. Since then, she has exhibited her work in both solo and group exhibitions, galleries and public space installations, showcasing her unique approach to art-making.
Sikdar has also been involved in collaborations with various artists on community-based art and cultural projects. They organize art workshops that create inclusive and participatory art experiences that encourage individuals to explore their own creativity and use art as a medium for self-discovery and communication.
