Broken Garden is a collaborative installation that combines the practices of artists Amy Maria Tong and Sharu Binnong Sikdar. The work explores the themes of deconstruction and reconstruction of everyday objects, creating a surreal garden setting that invites contemplation.

The installation evokes a dream-like atmosphere, where distorted forms rest upon a bed of man-made moss. Delicate strips of fabric drape around the sculptures, gently swaying in the breeze, creating an eerie contrast to the fast-paced environment of passersby.

Through the collection of discarded clothing from the community, the artists have painstakingly shredded, dyed, bundled, cut, and tied these materials, transforming garments that once held individual identities into something entirely new. This process alters their value and significance, reflecting the shifting nature of personal image and style.

In addition to clothing, everyday objects such as chairs, tables, and umbrellas have been transformed into distorted sculptures, embodying the fluidity of identity and expression. Broken Garden challenges viewers to reconsider their relationship with the familiar, inviting them to engage with the narratives woven into each piece.
